01 / Overview

The exhibits showcase the working principle and state of controllable nuclear fusion technology - artificial sun - through models and transparent display devices, to understand the application prospects of controllable nuclear fusion technology and China's technological level in controllable nuclear fusion technology internationally.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

Nuclear fusion research is a major international cooperation program carried out by the world's scientific and technological community to solve the future energy problems of humanity. Unlike non renewable energy and conventional clean energy, fusion energy has the advantages of unlimited resources, no environmental pollution, and no production of highly radioactive nuclear waste. It is one of the dominant forms of energy in the future of humanity and an important way to ultimately solve energy and environmental problems in human society and promote sustainable development. The ITER device is a superconducting tokamak capable of generating large-scale nuclear fusion reactions, commonly known as the "artificial sun".

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
