01 / Overview

Although the digital world has boundaries, it has infinite possibilities! From a technical perspective, it is limited by computing power, network speed, and storage capacity, but driven by imagination, the potential for expansion in the digital world is almost infinite. This exhibit invites you to contemplate whether the digital world has boundaries. Through interactive experiences and audience voting, you will learn about others' understanding of the digital world, explore its technological, legal, and cultural limitations, and explore the infinite possibilities brought by creativity.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

The digital world is an environment composed of digital technology, including the Internet, computer systems, digital media, etc. From this perspective, the digital world does not have physical boundaries, as it is composed of countless servers, networks, and devices around the world that can be connected and interact, forming a vast, interconnected network. However, from another perspective, the digital world can have "boundaries", which may be the boundaries brought about by technology. Limitations in computing power, storage capacity, communication speed, and other technologies. The boundaries of social structure. The boundaries arising from multiple dimensions such as policies, laws, ethics, cultural language, and economic factors. At the same time, the emergence of the digital world has changed our understanding of the world, altered the connection between people and things, and also had an impact on the boundaries of the real world.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
