01 / Overview

By simulating a three line hybrid rice experimental field, experience the entire process of planting, pollination, management, and harvesting sterile lines, maintainer lines, and restorer lines, and gain a fun and in-depth understanding of modern breeding techniques. 1. Pick up the modules representing the three series on the booth. 2. Placed on the screen of the virtual rice field. 3. Follow the prompts to operate. Three line hybrid rice is a great achievement in rice breeding and promotion. The so-called three lines are: (1) male sterile lines. The development of the pistil is normal, while the development of the stamen degenerates or withers, making it unable to self pollinate and bear fruit. (2) Maintain the system. The development of the pistil and stamen is normal, and when the pollen is transferred to the pistil of a male sterile line, not only can it form a pair of seeds, but male sterile plants can still be obtained after sowing. (3) Restoration system. The pollen is imparted to the pistil of the sterile line, and after sowing, the grown plants regain their fertility.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
