01 / Overview

Due to its tropical location, Hainan Island has abundant sunshine and rainfall, resulting in abundant resources and lush vegetation. There are many types of mushrooms growing in Hainan. The "Tianci Mushroom Library" exhibit features for the first time a large mushroom landscape paired with a laser scanner, helping visitors unlock the diversity of rainforest fungi; Scan barcodes and explore the mysteries of fungi. The commonly referred to "mushroom" is actually a general term for a type of large fungus that can be directly seen by the naked eye, mainly referring to basidiomycetes and sometimes also to ascomycetes. Typical mushrooms are usually umbrella shaped, consisting of a cap and a stem; In the tropical rainforest of Hainan, there are at least about 2000 species of mushrooms distributed, which can be roughly divided into three categories based on their nutritional types: parasitic, saprophytic, and symbiotic. Mushrooms of different nutritional types play different roles in ecosystems, but overall, they all participate in material cycling and energy flow, playing a crucial role in maintaining ecosystem balance and stability.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
