01 / Overview

Exhibit Introduction: Underwater acoustic communication is a technology for transmitting and receiving information underwater. This exhibit will showcase its necessity and working principle. 1. Button to select image, sound, and video for signal transmission; 2. The transmission light strip keeps on (for electrical signal conversion); 3. By turning the handle, translate the electrical signal (the acoustic converter icon is illuminated by turning the handle for sound signal conversion); 4. After the receiver transmits the light, it lights up and illuminates the receiving end (naked eye 3D visualization of the mother ship/submersible holographic fan). The principle of underwater acoustic communication: Firstly, text, speech, images and other information are converted into electrical signals through an electric transmitter, and the information is digitized by an encoder. Then, the transducer converts the electrical signals into acoustic signals. The sound signal is transmitted to the receiving transducer through the medium of water, and then converted into an electrical signal. After the decoder decodes the digital information, the electrical receiver converts the information into sound, text, and more.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
